All the World in New York City Photography Contest

The Cold Spring Harbor Laboratory is conducting a photography contest in which all the people of age 18 or more can participate. Participants have to post a picture, portraying the people’s documentary living in New York. As every picture tells a story, this photography contest should depict the stories of the individuals that reflect the heritage of New Yorkers from another part of the world. Photography isn’t easy. It takes a lot of patience and talent to get a single picture that will describe a story and meaning; this contest showcases the photographer’s talent by their pictures.

The winners for this photography contest will be chosen based on photographs submitted by the contestants on the subject of the biography, which will briefly describe the documentary individual portraits into the picture. The best 40 pictures will be selected for awards, and each will receive $500 as a gift prize. This contest will help to explore and share the New Yorkers’ heritage, and also, the photographer will get motivated and encouraged for their talent by means of prizes and more.

The CSH was formed in 1890 and is a private, not-for-profit organization that works to shape contemporary biomedical research and education with programs in cancer, neuroscience, plant biology, and quantitative biology. They have opened a new science center, DNA learning center NYC on the campus of New York City College of technology, and photographs obtained from this contest will be featured in the exhibition.

How to Apply?

The interested participants must fill out the application form and provide all the details such as name, email address, street, etc. The photographs must be the photographer’s creativity, with a maximum of 3 photographs; participants should write descriptions below them, which will describe the photograph’s creativity and story describing it in a maximum of 100 words. With the photographs, students must add a Photo release form with all details required. Students should get themselves registered on the below link provided, and those who have already registered can directly log in.

Rules and guidelines to be followed:

  • One artist should only send three entries.
  • There is no entry fee
  • Digital image manipulation (e.g., Photoshop) is allowed
  • Photos that include nudity or inappropriate, offensive, violent, or unlawful content will not be considered

Benefits

The photographs will be judged by the panel chaired by Jeanne Moutoussamy-Ashe, a celebrated photographer and public health advocate. The judging will take place blindly without revealing the photographer’s name and details, so selection must be fair. The selected photographs will receive $500; a total of 40 best pictures will be selected for awards; each will receive the amount individually. The contest will and prizes will motivate photographers to do their best and describe the biography and share the story through their photography. This contest celebrates the talent of the photographers and features the story of Ney York’s individuals. The selected pictures will also be used for marketing, exhibition, in publications, on printed materials, advertisements, signage, and other promotional purposes and electronic media by CSHL, DNALC, and DNALC NYC at city tech.

Application Deadline

The passionate photographers interested in this contest, where they will get an opportunity to showcase their talent, should submit their entries before the deadline of January 31, 2022. Delayed entries will not get accepted.
