AICPA COVID-19 Student Hardship Grant

The AICPA Foundation is offering the Covid-19 Student Hardships Grant to those students who have lost their jobs or internships as a direct consequence of the pandemic. To be eligible, the candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident willing to pursue CPA in the future. The applicant must be enrolled in a four-year college or university in an accounting or related major. For applying, the candidate is required to fill the online application form, submit a personal statement describing how the hardship affected their study, and plans to pursue CPA. The application process is open from June 15, 2021, to September 15, 2021.

Covid-19 has been a deadly virus and affected millions of lives in a time span of almost 2 years. Many of them have lost their families to the pandemic and others have lost their jobs or both. Therefore, The AICPA Foundation is taking a step forward to help those individuals who have faced monetary hardships due to the pandemic. They are offering a grant of $2000 to a total of 25 students to aid their education. Winning the grant can help you fund your education and related expenses and reduce the burden from your family at the same time.

Who is Eligible?

To be eligible, the applicant must satisfy the following conditions:

  • The candidate must be an AICPA Student Affiliate Member.
  • The candidate should be a current accounting student planning to pursue CPA licensure, but should not currently be a CPA.
  • The Candidate has experienced personal hardship as a direct consequence of Covid-19 scholarship.
  • The candidate must be pursuing an undergraduate or graduate-level degree in accounting or related major.
  • The candidate must have completed 30-semester hours with at least 6-hours in accounting.
  • The candidate must have a score of a minimum of 3.0 GPA or a 4.0 grade scale.
  • The candidate must be a US citizen or permanent resident.
  • The candidate must be attending a public or private, not-for-profit four-year college or university in the US or territories.

How to Apply?

For applying to the grant, you are required to submit the following documents:

  • Complete the online application form.
  • A copy of your updated resume.
  • An unofficial or official student-issued transcript(s) uploaded through application.
  • A one thousand words Personal Statement from the candidate stating their hardships and how has it impacted their future studies and plans to pursue CPA licensure.
  • Any supporting documents that solidify your case. (for example: Termination notice from the employer) 

Benefits

The Grant is aimed to provide monetary help of up to $2,000 to the candidates who have faced financial hardships due to the covid-19 pandemic. The amount can be used to put forward your education and related expenses. This is a chance for you to aid your education and reduce the burden on your family in these tough times of survival.
