Acacio Roger Rodrigues Memorial $2000 Scholarships

Acacio “Roger” Rodrigues Memorial Scholarship was set up by the Rodrigues family in memory of Acacio “Roger” Rodrigues. The scholarship is being sponsored by the Community Foundation of Hudson Valley. The grants will be granted to graduating secondary school seniors or current undergraduates who dwell in Dutchess, Putnam or Westchester County, New York, or Fairfield County, Connecticut.  The purpose behind starting this grant is to help students who are deprived of education because of a lack of money and resources. The foundation invites and encourages such students to participate in this generous initiative and take their win. The award amount of this grant is $2,000, which will be given to the most fortunate and meriting applicants. The quantity of grants to be given isn’t known; it relies upon the accessibility of funds and the number of applications. The award is renewable for up to three extra years and is straightforwardly payable to the institution applicant is joining in or will join in.

To be eligible, the candidate must be a graduating High School senior or an enlisted understudy in a certified professional school, college, or university. The candidate must be living in Dutchess, Putnam or Westchester County, NY, or Fairfield County, CT, and plan to study in a field that will prompt a career in the building/construction industry. Who is Eligible?

The eligibility criteria for the following scholarship are as follows:

  • Be a graduating High School senior or a currently enrolled student in an accredited vocational school, college, or university.
  • Reside in Dutchess, Putnam or Westchester County, NY or Fairfield County, CT.
  • Plan to study in a field that will lead to a career in the building/construction industry.

How to Apply?

The qualified applicants are expected to complete the application form and attach all the below-mentioned documents along with it. In addition to the application, the candidates will have to submit an essay discussing their career goals, personal values, and community service (typed, limit to one page or 500 words).

Supporting Documents

Following documents need to be attached with your application form:

  • Most recent high school transcript.
  • Resume and list of extracurricular activities.
  • Copy of your Student Aid Report (SAR) and Expected Family Contribution (EFC) information, which you will receive when you complete and submit your Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA).
  • Two current letters of recommendation from teachers/guidance counselors, clergy, or persons other than family members familiar with your skills and abilities. These letters must have been written within the last six months.

Benefits

The award amount of this scholarship is $2,000, which will be given to the luckiest and deserving candidates. The number of awards to be given is unknown; it depends on the availability of funds and the number of entries received. The award is renewable for up to three additional years and is directly payable to the institution the candidate is attending or will be attending.
