Educating women is as important as educating men. Well-educated women can contribute to the growth of the nation and building stronger families, communities, and economies. A mother has more involvement in her children’s life than a father and if she is well educated, then she can pass that knowledge to their children and make good decisions not only for her but also for her family. Educated girls are less likely to be subjected to any crime. AAUW Penobscot Valley believes in promoting the education and freedom of women and this is the reason why it has brought funding schemes for non-tradition female students. There are three scholarships available for undergraduate non-traditional female students studying at local educational institutions, at AAUW.
Each scholarship is worth $500 and will help female students stay motivated and dedicated to their educational dreams. Those days have gone by when women had to struggle in gaining education, finding opportunities in the job market, and especially making their own way in a world that was considered male-dominated. Today’s women are strong and showing their talent in every area from technology to art. They are as much contributing and making achievements as their counterparts. And this scholarship is little support from AAUW Penobscot Valley for those talented women who have the potential to lead the world and break all the stereotypes about women. If you are one of those aspiring women who need financial assistance, then you should not miss this opportunity.
AAUW Penobscot Valley has a one and only mission of promoting and supporting women’s economic equality, diversity, and rights. It works toward its mission by organizing programs and offering funding opportunities to female students.
