AATSP Poster Contest for K-12 Students

The American Association of Teachers of Spanish and Portuguese is conducting a Poster Contest for Spanish and Portuguese students of grades K-12 whose teachers are current AATSP members. The Contest is being held on the celebration of their 50th Anniversary to encourage cross-curriculum collaboration such as social studies, arts, and technology, to promote creative thinking engage the enthusiasm of students. This Contest makes anan excellent project for Hispanic/Latino/Latinx Heritage Month and world language celebrations. Teachers will sponsor the students to enter this Contest, and students must feature the Spanish and Portuguese theme. Students from grades K-12 should make a hand-drawn original poster, and students from grades 9-12 can also make digital posters according to their choice.

Students will judge their artwork, including their visual impact, overall appealing effect, applicability to the theme, neatness, creativity, and originality. Prizes will be distributed in each grade category divided by ask-1, 2*3, 4-5, 6-8, 9-12th (hand-drawn), and 9-12th (digital). Three winners will get selected from each category as first place, second place, and third place and will receive prize amounts of $100, $75, and $50. All other participants will receive participation medallions.

The AATSP was founded on December 27, 1917, in New York City as the American Association of Teachers and is a language-specific professional association. Their mission is to promote the study and teaching of Hispanics, Luso-Brazilians, and other related languages, literature, and cultures at all education levels through an exchange of pedagogical and scholarly information. They also encourage heritage and second-language study and supports projects to that end.

Who Is Eligible?

  • Sponsoring teachers must be AATSP members whose dues are current for 2022
  • Students from grades K-12 whose teachers are current AATSP members.

How to Apply?

Teachers and Parents should fill out the entry form on behalf of students with entering proper information into each field. Teachers should contact their AATSP chapter for contest deadlines and other submission information. Visit www.aatsp.org for chapter contact information. Posters may be submitted directly to the National Contest Coordinator Only if an AATSP chapter does not offer the Poster Contest. Each teacher will submit three posters per category depending on the grades taught. All entries should be mailed to:

Application Deadline

All participants should register and create their best artwork, and teachers should submit their entries before April 01, 2022. Delayed entries will lead to rejection.
