Whether you consider photography just as your hobby or you are genuinely interested in working in this field as a professional, the Novel Noir Photo Contest could be the opportunity that your career needs. This photography competition is being hosted by Canton Free Library and sponsored by Brewer Bookstore. Novel Noir Photo Contest is specially created for amateur photographers only, ages 16 and up. This year’s competition theme is Novel Noir, so each and every photo must be Novel Noir themed to be eligible for consideration. Professionals whose primary source of income or more is result of their photographic work will not be considered for this program.
Novel Noir Photo Contest is now giving budding photographers the opportunity to gain experience, recognition, and unique perks. For becoming a professional photographer and gaining a good reputation in this field, one needs to gain as much experience as possible since an experienced photographer is likely to have more work than one with no or less experience. If you have photography talent and are also interested in working in this field, then this contest can serve as the right platform for you to earn some experience, develop new skills, and put existing ones into use. The award will be distributed for three places: 1st prize: $50 gift certificate, 2nd prize: $30 gift certificate, 3rd prize: $20 gift certificate.
Established in April 1832, Canton Free Library is considered the very first known library in Canton. This library continues to be a strong resource center providing valuable services to patrons of all ages and all walks of life.

Who is Eligible?
This contest is open to amateur photographers only, ages 16 and up. No Canton Free Library employee or immediate family, no member of the Canton Free Library Board of Trustees, or Friends of the Canton Free Library are eligible to enter this program.
How to Apply?
Candidates will have to submit up to 3 photographs that are Novel Noir themed. Photographs should be sent via email to jhenry@ncls.org through Oct 23, 2021. Entrants are required to include the following in their email: your name, phone number, the title of the photo, and the novel you were influenced by. All images must be in JPG format.
