The Marine Technology Society (MTS) is offering different scholarships and an Emerging Leaders in Marine Technology Program (EMERGE) for students who are full-time undergraduate or graduate students or studying in high school who are accepted into a full-time marine studies program and post-secondary students e.g. undergraduate and graduate that is MTS member, underrepresented members of the marine technology community are encouraged to apply, respectively. The (EMERGE) is a guided program designed to help undergraduate and graduate students and early career ocean professionals (ECOPs) improve their professional growth and networking at OCEANS Conferences.
They are providing six scholarship programs named as John C. Bajus, Dieter Family, The Paros-Digiquartz, Charles H. Bussmann Undergraduate, Charles H. Bussmann Graduate Scholarship, and ROV Scholarships and the award amount for these scholarships are $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, $2,500, and $8,000 respectively. The amount will be utilized for their educational purposes, such as managing their education-related expenses, including tuition fees, books, library fees, and other related. The programs are designed to encourage the students to grow their careers.
The MTS was incorporated in 1963 and is the international society that brings together businesses, institutions, professionals, academics, and students who are ocean engineers, technologists, policymakers, and educators. Their mission is to enhance the transmission of marine technology information to promote a greater awareness of the relevance of marine technology to more considerable global challenges. Marine technology and related educational programs should be promoted and improved. Advance the development of the tools and techniques needed to investigate, study, and promote ocean use that is both responsible and sustainable. And vision to be the leading authority and advocate for marine technology and resources while promoting member success and public understanding.

Who Is Eligible?
For Scholarships:
- Applicant must be an MTS member (student memberships cost $25 per year).
- Applicant must be a full-time graduate or undergraduate student currently enrolled in a 2-year or 4-year marine studies program (or a high school student accepted into a full-time marine studies program).
- Students who received a scholarship the previous year cannot apply for the same scholarship the following year
For EMERGE:
- Post-secondary students (e.g., undergraduate and graduate) and ECOPs (i.e., no more than ten years from your last degree) that are current MTS members (student memberships cost $25 per year; ECOP memberships cost $50 per year).
- We strongly encourage underrepresented members of the marine technology community to apply.
- Participation in the EMERGE program requires attendance at the OCEANS conference. All student and ECOP participants applying to the program must get approval from their advisor (students) or employer (ECOPs) that they will be able to attend.

Students who find themselves eligible for these scholarships should get themselves registered if they are new and existing users can directly log -in using their login details. Applicants must fill out all the details that are required in each field, and with the applications, they should also attach a recommendation letter, a reference form, official transcripts; high school seniors must submit an acceptance letter for their ongoing college program, and those who are applying for John C. Benefits
Applicants will be selected for scholarship awards depending on the selection criteria, which varies with the different scholarships. The program offers six scholarships named as John C. Bajus, Dieter Family, The Paros-Digiquartz, Charles H. Bussmann Undergraduate, Charles H. Bussmann Graduate Scholarship, and ROV Scholarships and the award amount for these scholarships are $1,000, $1,500, $2,000, $2,500, $2,500, and $8,000 respectively. The amount will be utilized for their educational purposes, such as managing their education-related expenses, including tuition fees, books, library fees, and other related. The programs are designed to encourage the students to grow their careers. In the Dieter family, scholarship travel allowances will be given separately. All these scholarships will motivate and help students continue and complete their education and build their careers.
Application Deadline
All applicants are required to submit their application form with all the required documents no later than April 15, 2022. Applications received after this date will not be considered eligible.
