Kiwanis Community Service Scholarship for High School Seniors in Spokane County

The Kiwanis Spokane Kiwanis Charities Foundations has announced their scholarship program as a Community service scholarship for high school seniors who have applied to and/or been accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or other approved institution. Also, the applicant and their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must reside in the Spokane Country. The program provides an opportunity for those students who demonstrate a dedication to changing the world, one child and one community at a time, through a history of the school and/or community service.

The scholarship winner will be chosen on the basis of their application, questionnaire where they will list their extracurricular school activities and what that they gained from those activities, their listed Kiwanis project/events/organization they have participated in, and other factors. One selected applicant will receive an award amount of $1,500, which will be used towards their education, such as in managing their education-related expenses, including tuition fees, library fees, books, other supplies, etc. This will help students to pursue their education in any field of their choice and also motivate them to continue their community service activities.

The Spokane Kiwanis Charities was founded in the year 1975 for charitable and educational purposes and is a not-for-profit corporation. Their mission is to improve the world one child and one community at a time and vision to become a positive influence in communities worldwide so that one day, all children will wake up in communities that believe in them, nurture them and provide the support they need to thrive.

Who Is Eligible?

  • An applicant and their parent(s) or legal guardian(s) must reside in Spokane County. The applicant must be a high school senior attending a school residing within the county limits. 
  • All applicants must have applied to and/or been accepted for enrollment as a full-time student at an accredited college or other approved institution. Documented proof from the institution of full-time enrollment is required.
  • Up to four additional scholarships will be awarded to students attending the Community College of Spokane.
  • All applicants must demonstrate a dedication to changing the world, one child and one community at a time through a history of the school and/or community service.

How to Apply?

The eligible applicants should download the application form and fill in all the information, including personal details, questionnaires, and others. To be eligible for this program, students must complete and sign the checklist page, fill out the application form sheet, must answer the questionnaire, permission letter to release information to Spokane Kiwanis Charities, attach copies of the applicants most recent high school transcript, attach two letters of recommendation attesting to the applicant’s character and community service, attach an acceptance letter from college or University. Benefits

Students will pass the award requirements such as they must provide verification of attendance prior to the release of funds, the winner must attend at least one Kiwanis Club Meeting during the first year of having received the scholarship. The applicant will be selected for awards on the basis of their application and other documents attached with the application, which state their community service activities and epitomizes the Kiwanis mission of changing the world, one child and one community at a time. One selected applicant will receive an award amount of $1,500, which will be used towards their education, such as in managing their education-related expenses, including tuition fees, library fees, books, other supplies, etc. This will help students to pursue their education in any field of their choice and also motivate them to continue their community service activities. The recipient will also get an opportunity through this program to move one step forward towards their educational and career goals.

Application Deadline

Students who are eligible must check out all the details that are required to enter into this program and submit their entries prior to March 31, 2022. Any delay in submissions will lose their opportunity to be a beneficiary of this program.
