The Kenan Institute for ethics is pleased to announce the 2019 Kenan Moral Purpose Award Essay Competition. The competition is open for undergraduate students who are currently enrolled at both Duke and UNC (US citizens or permanent residents).
Kenan Moral Purse Award is given for the best undergraduate student essay in a liberal arts education plays in the pursuit of personal and social objectives. A winner from every school receives $ 1,000.

Who May Eligible:
To eligible, the candidates must be following all the eligibility criteria:
- Currently enrolled undergraduate students at both Duke and UNC
- US citizens or permanent residents.
How to Apply & Competitions Rules
To participate in this competition, Essays should be submitted by email to Amber Díaz Pearson (amber.diaz@duke.edu).
Rules
- Essays of between
500-800 words should address either or both of the following questions:
- In what ways have your core beliefs and larger aims been tested, transformed, or confirmed during your time in college?
- How have you had to defend or challenge prevailing ideas, social norms or institutions and what lessons have you learned from doing so?
- Essays should be submitted by email as a Word or PDF attachment
Benefits:
One winner from each school will receive $1,000 as the winning amount.
