Gary Martin Swim Scholarship Fund was set up with the Alaska Community Foundation in 2015. Gary Eugene Martin was a permanent resident of Soldotna, Alaska, who motivated others with his inspirational and empowering nature. His rundown of volunteer activities is pretty long and reflects how much he cared about his community and people. Gary was referred to by his family as somebody who cherished animals and ruined his grandkids. He showed his enthusiasm for aiding youth through his contribution to competitive swimming. For quite a long time, he filled in as a mentor and coach to numerous youthful swimmers.
His legacy continues today through the granting of the Gary Martin Swim Scholarship. Understudies entering or currently joining up with a post-auxiliary college or trade school associated with secondary school swimming are eligible to participate in this scholarship and try their luck. Preference will be given to the students with financial needs and GPA of 2.5-3.5. The award measure of the accompanying grant is $1,000, which is to be granted to one fortunate understudy who qualifies the models of the grant and who suits best the motivation behind the grant. The monetary need will be thought of while choosing the champ of the grant.
Set up in 1995, The Alaska Community Foundation (ACF) develops, celebrates, and supports all types of generosity to strengthen and support the Alaskas people group until the end of time.
