Community Foundation of Northern Illinois has declared a scholarship program for those students who want to build their career in sports with a sports-related college degree. The students in high school and see their future in sports also want to pursue their education in sports college degree can apply for this scholarship program.
The scholarship is given based on students’ academic performance and the application they submit, mentioning how they are eligible and deserving of this scholarship. The amount given in this scholarship varies depending on the funds received by the foundation, and the no. of awards given also varies with this. But whatever the amount receives will help the student for their education and career in sports and build their career.
The Foundation provides this scholarship was established in 1935, and it’s a regional head in charity. This foundation was meant to provide required and necessary resources and financial assistance to the students who are graduating and in high school and aims to seek sport-related higher education. This scholarship is provided in the memory of Billy Smith, who is the inspiration for all the students who walk on his feet.

Who is Eligible?
Applicant must:
- Be a graduating high school senior
- Reside in Winnebago, Boone, Ogle, or Stephenson country
- Have played at least three years of baseball or softball in high school, including senior year
- Major in sport-related fields in college
- Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 out of 4.0
